"This is a YA read, but adults will also enjoy and learn from this fast-paced book. I started it with every intention of reading a few chapters before bed. Five hours later I had devoured the entire book. The characters are beautifully flawed and I found myself cheering for them when they couldn’t cheer for themselves. There are some hard, but real, issues addressed in this book. I appreciate that Beckie Lindsey addresses topics that are often ignored and spotlights the reality that there is more going on that what we may ever see with our eyes. This is a great read for teens who are fighting their own battles, as well as adults who would like insight into the struggles of today’s teens and young adults face."

The #1 Lesson I’ve Learned Through Cancer
Tears stream down my face as I write. It’s an “ugly cry”. You know, the snot dangling from your nose, and broken capillaries around your eyes kind of ugly. But I don’t care because I’m a woman on a mission. I want the world to know. This is a message that I cannot...
What Are The Odds?
A line from The Hunger Games, the megahit book series turned blockbuster movies, has been rolling around in my brain since I received a stage four ovarian cancer diagnosis. “May the odds be ever in your favor.” It’s a ridiculous thing to say to twelve young...
Living in the NOW (even with Ovarian Cancer)
Daily life has dramatically changed since my diagnosis with stage four ovarian cancer, as you can imagine. I went from a full calendar of plans for writing more books in my Beauties from Ashes series and a children’s book, articles and interviews, volunteer ministry,...

When I Can’t Solve The Problem
I’m a fixer by nature. If there’s a problem, I’m one to keep trying until I find a resolution. This skill serves me well … until it doesn’t. And if I’m honest, the times when I have failed at solving the problem myself were disastrous. What I needed was true wisdom. ...
When All Isn’t Merry And Bright: 3 Ways To Reverse Stinkin’ Thinkin’
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love to decorate, bake, give gifts, sing Christmas carols, go to church, and especially spend time with those I love. But this year—this crazy mixed-up year—I've found myself a little less merry and bright. I just read the new...
Dealing with Holiday Depression and Grief
The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and celebration but for some, it is quite the opposite. The season can evoke feelings of stress, loneliness, and anxiety. Studies show a main cause for depression during November and December is isolation. COVID-19 has...
How Blogging Has Helped Strengthen My Faith
I slid the cursor to the right and let it hover for a moment before I drew in a deep breath, then finally clicked publish. It can be a scary thing to put your writing out there for the world to read. Will people read it? Will they like it? Am I good enough? These are...
