Have you ever watched one of those reality weight loss shows and thought,
“Well, if I had a personal trainer, chef, and unlimited equipment, I could get into shape too.” ?
Imagine a personal trainer, bestselling author, and celebrity in his own right–knocking at your door each morning.
Now imagine that you don’t answer the door because you’re sound asleep, or you’re too busy, or feeling lazy, or perhaps you’re ashamed of how out of shape you are.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES. I’m guilty of them all at one time or another. How about you?
Revelation 3:20
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Jesus is always at the door of our hearts knocking. Don’t you think that He could just come on in if He wanted to? Of course He could. But he gives us the choice.
Notice that the scripture also says, if you hear my voice. He is asking (probably by name) to come in. Then it says, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
Now that’s personal.
As Christians, we all have a personal trainer available to us twenty-four-seven. This is how we begin to “tap into” that dunamis power I spoke about in my last blog (see You’ve Got the Power).
By the way, Revelation 3:20 was written to Christians. The Church of Laodicea to be specific. It can be a passage for a person seeking Christ for the first time as well, but it was written for believers. A few passages above in Revelation 3:16, it says this church of Laodicea had become “lukewarm”.
In other words, BLAH. And blah isn’t powerful. Every feel like that? You don’t have to. And Jesus doesn’t want you to.
Be still for a moment.
Listen, do you hear Him calling your name and knocking at the door of your heart?
Open the door and let Him in. Now you’re on your way to experiencing the powerful life Jesus intends for you.
Coming soon. . .”Tapping into God’s power.”
