Hello, I’m Beckie.
I write. I hike. I enjoy eating popcorn and watching a good movie with my family. I exercise to counteract my salty treats habit. I love to snuggle up with a good book, a cup of coffee, and a cat on my lap.
I’m a Jesus girl. My biggest joy is to encourage and propel others in their walk with Christ through my writing and relationships.
But it wasn’t always this way.
I gave my life to Jesus at 12 years old because I didn’t want to go to hell. We moved out of state shortly after. By the time I was 18, my family had moved 18 times. Not cool for a teenager! I spent a lot of time eating lunch in the library. My best friends were characters in books or the ones I created in my own stories.
Isn’t God’s irony amazing?!
It wasn’t until my early twenties that I realized something was missing. I was depressed, struggling with bulimia, and deeply insecure. This wasn’t the “abundant life” described in Scripture.
One day I got tired of pretending. I gave my whole life to Jesus—my depression, insecurities, and all.
And now everything is rainbows and butterflies!
Pfft! Not even close. Things didn’t change overnight. In fact, things got tougher.
That’s when I realized we are at war!
“Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:11
That’s right. The devil and his demons don’t want us to experience the abundant life promised by Jesus.
But God has given us everything we need to stand firm against the devil and grow in our faith. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ! (2 Peter 1:3;Romans 8: 31-39)
Have you ever felt less than, broken, or even invisible?
Every one of us still has that insecure teenager inside. We don’t often acknowledge the feelings and needs of our child self. We’ve pulled up our bootstraps and moved on for goodness sake!
And yet, many of us are living out of the repercussions of our childhood and teen years—which is exactly what the devil wants, by the way!
But Jesus wants to speak to that girl. That guy. He wants to whisper to our hearts a new narrative.
- You are not alone.
- You are loved.
- You have great value.
- You have a purpose and a calling on your life.
- You are EXTRAORDINARY.
It’s true! With God’s guidance—I will prove it— if you stick around a while.
My friend, God wants to walk with us in our everyday, messy, silly, screwed-up, mundane lives!
This is where ‘less than’ meets extraordinary!
Thanks for allowing me to be part of your faith journey.
