Happy August!
I have a sweet treat for my sweet readers. Who doesn’t like homemade ice cream on a hot summer day?
My daughter made this amazing and easy peasy no-churn ice cream. I thought you all would love it as much as we did.
What is no-churn? It simply means you don’t need an ice cream maker. Hooray! And bonus, it only takes just 3 ingredients.
Easy Peasy No-Churn Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
This is for the ice cream base, but there are endless flavor combos and mix-ins!
Directions
- In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to whip the cream until peaks form.
- In another bowl, fold the whipped cream into the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla.
This is when you can add your mix-ins! Here are a few suggestions: Oreo cookie crumbles, Recess peanut butter cup crumbles, frozen berries, nuts, toasted coconut, M&Ms, etc.
- Put mixture into desired container. Tip: a metal container will freeze ice creamer faster. Pop into the freezer for 4 hours.
Before serving, allow the ice cream to sit at room temperature a few moments. Serves 10.
Enjoy!

Okay, so how does a recipe for ice cream coincide with my typical God-centered messages?
I’m glad you asked! 🙂
Ice cream and Jesus have something in common!
Even though I’m sure you are cheering about that statement, you might also be scratching you head. Hold your horses! Let me explain.
Since we flipped the calender to 2020, there has been so much grief, anger, division, violence, and unrest. It’s enough to make even those with a solid faith falter at times.
But ya know what? Even in the midst of the turmoil, I have seen God’s hand at work. One place I have seen His Spirit moving is within our own families as we are spending more time with them.
It is within our own homes that God moves first. He moves us during our prayer time to love our household. He then calls us out into the world to show others that love— at work, at the store, on the road, and everywhere.
God works in the ordinary, day-to-day activities like sharing a bowl of ice cream with our family. Did you notice that Jesus spent a lot of time doing ordinary things with people? It was during the ordinary, that extraordinary often took place.
It isn’t just a bowl of ice cream. It’s a sweet memory in the making … if we take the time to cherish it.
“What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.” Ecclesiastes 3: 9-13 (emphasis mine)
There are blessing all around—and they usually have a name. Take time to enjoy them!
Love and Blessings,
Beckie

I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
Amen! We must always look for the blessings all around us; even when our mind’s eyes don’t want to focus on them. Well said Ms. Beckie.
JD, thanks for always being an encouragement. Try the ice cream recipe. You won’t be disappointed 🙂
Being able to see God’s blessings in the every day moments, and even in the mundane, is truly a gift that brings joy to the heart, Beckie. Thanks for sharing the ice cream recipe, too!
Blessings, my friend!
Martha, I was thinking this simple recipe would be a great thing for families to do together. You and Danny should try making some. Of course, you may want to go for a walk later to work off those calories (not that you need to!)!
Beckie, thanks for the ice-cream recipe. I love the analogy, things do start first at home. So I love this, “It is within our own homes that God moves first.”
Being an ice cream and Jesus-lover, I had to read your post! Thanks for the recipe too.
Karen, the ice cream recipe is so easy and yummy! I hope you will enjoy some with those adorable grandkids of yours.
Thank you for sharing this easy recipe! I think it would be especially good with Reese’s cups or just peanut butter. Peanut butter and vanilla is a good combination that I never see for sale in stores.
