I’m a proud and shameless first-time grandma!
The 4D image above is my grandson, Luke. He is due to meet the world in early April. Isn’t technology amazing?
As I watched my unborn grandson on the screen, I was filled will awe, not just by the technology, but by his Creator. This little guy is a work of God—”knit together in his mother’s womb” as it says in Psalm 139. But something else occurred to me that literally took my breath away.
Our Lord Jesus was also “knit together” in a mother’s womb.
Ponder this for a moment. Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, the Creator, All Mighty God—lowered Himself into the form of a human fetus.
“Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges,
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
Philippians 2: 6-8
Now ponder this.
What if Mary decided not to go through with the pregnancy?
After all, Mary was an unwed but yet engaged teenaged girl. She could have been put to death for her “mysterious” pregnancy. And her culture was well-acquainted with the concept of abortion. Historical evidence suggests that abortion and infanticide were common practices in many ancient societies.
Now, consider the recent Reproductive Health Act which passed with a 38-28 vote and thunderous applause in New York’s state Senate chamber on Jan. 22. Or more recently, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act which fell short of the 60 votes it needed to move forward, as only 53 senators supported the measure while 44 voted against it.
These are innocent little babies either in the womb or who have survived the heinous act of abortion. Have we digressed to the level of the ancient world? What in God’s name has happened to our society? Perhaps it has a lot to do with the removal of God and His name from our society. That’s another thing to ponder.
When Jesus said in Matthew 25: 45, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me,’ I truly believe He was also referring to these helpless babies.
Who is more the ‘least of these’ than a defenseless baby?
Make no mistake. Not standing up for the unborn is like not standing up for Jesus.

So, how do we help?
Prayer, of course!
Prayer is important, but we must also put our prayers into action.
Four Ways to put our prayers into action
- Contact your Senator either by phone or by email. Intercessors for America has made it so simple. They have created an email that will go directly to your Senator. Click HERE to send an email. Click HERE for the phone number to call your Senator.
- Share with others. Tell your church, your friends and family, and share on social media. We must make our voices heard.
- Go see the movie UNPLANNED scheduled for release on March 29. The movie is a dramatic true story of Abby Johnson who becomes the youngest clinic director in the history of Planned Parenthood, then a life-changing experience turns her into an anti-abortion activist. Remember, whenever we pay to see a movie, it’s like a vote. We are saying, please make more movies like this. An interesting note about the movie UNPLANNED: the MPAA has given it an R rating. “We don’t have nudity, we don’t have sex, we don’t have language. So the only thing that [the MPAA] could give us an R for is violence so that means that they agree that abortion is a violent and disturbing act,” said actress Ashley Bratcher. This means in my home state of California, a girl under the age of 18 can actually have an abortion without parental consent but cannot watch a movie about abortion!
- Show love without judgment to those who have either had an abortion, are thinking about it or are the ones involved in performing abortions. People must know that our God is a merciful God who loves all people and gives everyone a chance to repent. Love covers a multitude of sins.
We have a chance to be the voice for those who are being silenced. Let’s not waste it.
How will you take a stand?
As the editor of SoCal Christian Voice, I have the honor of interviewing the directors/producers of the film Unplanned. Look for the interview later this week.
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Did you contact your Senator? Will you see the movie? Do you have other suggestions?
Beckie — thanks for the post and congrats. You have probably noticed on our SM that we will be grandparents in May!! Aren’t the 4D pics amazing? I appreciate your post. Angie and I will be attending the legislative day for Ohio Right to Life next week and lobby senators . It’s a fight we must be involved with. Del
Del, thanks for sharing that you and Angie will be attending the legislative day for Ohio Right to life. It’s awesome to partner with other Christians!
Blessings on the birth of your grandbaby in May.
Love this. And love the 4D images of Luke. And yes, not standing up for the unborn is like not standing up for Jesus!
Karen, thanks for standing up for the unborn, my friend! And yeah, I’m over the moon about Luke!
I can already tell from this photo that your grandson is going to be a handsome child, Beckie! And yes, I do plan to see the movie when it comes out, and I’m fortunate to live in a place where my House Rep. and Senators are all pro-life. Still, we do need to keep praying for those who aren’t that they would have a change of heart and mind.
Blessings!
Martha,
Yes, what a blessing to live in a state that supports life! Praise the Lord!
Thanks for joining me in prayer for this most important issue. I’m glad you’re making “plans” to see “Unplanned” when it comes out at the end of the month.
Love and blessings to you and yours!
Precious beyond words — God bless!
Thank you, LightWriters! I hope the suggestions for “stand up” for the unborn were helpful.
Blessings!
As a new grandmother I still feel the awesome wonder of new life.Congratulations! I know you are excited. Thanks for sharing this message of life and love. I had not heard about the movie and hope to see it.
Katherine, Yes, I hope the movie is showing somewhere near you. It will be available in over 800 theaters. Look for an interview with the writers and producers in SoCal Christian Voice soon.
Blessings!
Congratulations, Grandma! My heart aches for all the life that is snuffed out. I love that you bring out that verse and the truth of babies being among the “least of these” that Jesus wants us to help. Thank you, Beckie, for speaking up for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Love and blessings to you!
Trudy, thanks for standing with me in prayer and action for the unborn.
Blessings to you and yours!
Beckie, first of all; Congratulations! I’m so happy to hear about Luke, and he is already looking very cute! I love that he hasn’t even come out of the womb yet, and already his life is being used to preach the gospel about how important the life of Jesus is for all eternity! Every baby is a planned life by God our Creator. How absolutely tragic for us had Jesus not been born, and welcomed into the world by his young mother, Mary! Beautiful post with lots of great information, and thank you fir the reminder to watch the movie! Love you! 💙
Angela, thanks so much! I’m over the moon about Luke. I also want to thank you for joining me in standing up for the unborn.
Blessings to you and yours, sweet sister-in-Christ! <3
