A Prayer for Our Nation https://beckielindsey16.com/2016/11/04/a-prayer-for-our-nation/

Hello, reader! Thank you for joining me in a prayer for our nation.

Our Holy Father in Heaven,

You are the Creator of the Universe, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Hear the prayer of your church—your sons and daughters who worship You as Lord of our lives.

As Your people called by Your name, we humbly seek Your face. We turn from our sinful ways and complacency, asking You to heal our land.

We thank you, Father, for the United States of America and Her prosperity, freedom, and peace in which we have been blessed for many years.

Only You, God, are in control of all things. Our hope is in the One who raises up nations and takes them down during this most important election season. We look to You, the true source of wisdom, as we prepare to elect a new leader. We know through Your Word, Your will prevails through the godless and the godly. We pray in advance for our newly elected officials. May they lead with a Biblical worldview.

Quell the doubts, fears, and division in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, bringing justice where evil schemes have been contrived. We pray for our enemies and those who are lost in darkness without You. Help them to see the light and love of Christ through the hands and feet of your church, leading them to salvation. We pray for revival in our country.

Father, Your word tells us that we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Our battle is not with Hillary or Donald or any government official or leader. And because of this, we put on every piece of God’s armor in order that we will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.

No matter the results of the election, help us to remember that You alone are sovereign and nothing will ever separate us from Your love. On this we stand in hope:

“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In light of all this, we can say, may Your will be done in this election.

All power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise to Jesus Christ in whose name we pray.

Amen and Amen!

GOD BLESS AMERICA
