YOU (yes, you on the other side of this screen) have all that you need to run this marathon of life.
No matter what physical or spiritual shape you are in at this moment—
YOU CAN RUN and YOU CAN WIN.
How do I know this? Take a look:
2 Peter 1:3 “By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.”
Let’s dissect this verse together. The word divine means, of or relating to, or proceeding directly from God.
The word power in Greek (original New Testament text) is dunamis. Does this look familiar? It is the root word of our English word for dynamite.
This dunamis is not just any power, however. The word often refers to miraculous power. It can also refer to moral power or excellence of soul, according to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon.
This information was so interesting, that I decided to do a further search on the Greek word dunamis. According to the NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon, dunamis or a derivative of it, is mentioned 121 times!
In the first chapter of the book of Ephesians, this power is said to be the same mighty power that raised Jesus from the dead!
This means that we don’t live the Christian life in our own power, but in God’s. In other words we have dynamite power directly from God available to us!
In my next blog, I want to address how to “tap into” this dunamis power.
Until then, I’d like to leave you with another great verse:
Ephesians 3:20 “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Do me a favor. If this was encouraging to you, let me know in a comment below.
God Bless!
Thanks, Beckie…. encouraging in the physical and spiritual.
