It’s inevitable. Life will throw you a curve ball. Probably several. And if you’re really honest about it, a few have already hit you smack in the face, knocking you out flat—in the dirt. Yes, at some point or another, we will all experience feeling completely alone, misunderstood, and even inconsolable.
I know, it sounds pretty depressing. Well, “the truth hurts,” so they say. But hold on a minute. I want to offer you a silver lining to those gray clouds looming on the horizon (or the next curve ball).
There is so much more that truth has to offer us—freedom.
The bible is Truth (John 17:17). Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). Knowing the Truth will set one at liberty—free from sin, free from condemnation, and free from death (Romans 6:22; 8:1-2). Jesus came to proclaim liberty to the captives (Luke 4:18).
So you see, the truth—the word of God—cuts through the blackest hours with sparkling rays of hope. God’s very presence permeates even the gloom of death, rolling it up like a scroll.
How do I know this?
Life has thrown me some of those curve balls that have knocked me out flat, and yet, I have experienced God’s hope through his divine presence and word. God and His word have helped me back on my feet more times than I can even remember.
I absolutely cannot, and will not, go back to the empty, unfulfilling life I had without Him. Like a home-cooked meal over a measly bag of stale chips from a vending machine—nothing will ever outmatch my God and His powerful word in my life.
You can find this out for yourself too! And you don’t even have to wait for life to throw you a curve ball. Take time each day to read the bible. It will be worth it!
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8
